| King's Head roof boss Tewkesbury Abbey, south transept, c.1320-40 |
|
Original stone finish (21) |
This dignified King gazes regally down from the vault of the south transept roof, from which lofty vantage point he must have watched over such goings-on as the Battle of Tewkesbury, the destruction of the great Lady Chapel by Henry VIII and the collapse of the spire a few years later. My sister is convinced there's a striking similarity between this carving and Faramir in the Lord of the Rings movies! Please scroll down to see all available finishes for this piece. |
