This wyvern, a winged dragon with only one pair of legs,
has small wings, yet powerful claws. Its body becomes a vine and it is
eating the grapes growing there. Wyverns are often depicted eating their
own tails which is thought to symbolise eternal life. The carving style
suggests that the same mason carved Nos. 27, 28, 29 and 32.
