| 37: Winged lion's head carrying pig & piglets roof boss Winchester Cathedral, south aisle, c.1400 |

Original stone finish (37) |
The pig and piglets are well observed in their execution, although the piglets have rather straight tails. Presumably a lion was not readily available for the stone mason to study so consequently this one has rather endearingly naive, somewhat human, proportions with curls and low-set ears! Beneath the pig are ivy, oak leaves and acorns. Please scroll down to see all available finishes for this piece. |
